Really thinking of buying another 75!

Hi ladies and gents,

It's been a while since I last visited, me and the wife a few years ago bought a 75 when we fou D we were expecting our first child and the 306 cabriolet we had the time didn't seem very fitting.

Well fast forward to now, my wife now drives too and we both have small cars (2005 mini one mine) and the wife has a ford sportka.

The usual rigmarole of laying one of the rear seats down when we do the weekly shop has taken its toll after 4 years and I'm thinking it's time we had a family sized car fthat we could use as a family barge and travel distances in comfort etc.

I know a little about 75s such as the boot areas filling with water and plenumn drains but in no way an expert.

I cover approximately 8-9k miles per year, I have seen this example and not too far away

Having read the description and having studied the photos it does appear to may be needing a tyre or two and possibly a key repair and a second key making up ( a spare)

I've also checked the not history and it's had advisories over the years for brake pipes being covered in grease or tread being low but nothing too major.

Would I be better off waiting a little longer in the hope of finding a slightly better example that already has the two keys that work correctly and one that may have had the itch already replaced ( the one in the eBay link above is showing 96k miles but no mention of a clutch replacement).. doesn't mean it's on its way out, granted.
Is the car in the eBay link above known to the club ?
Also would 205 pound per year be right for the tax? Seems a little cheap as my 1.6 mini is 205

Seems like a fair enough price for a fairly tidy car. Keys arn't a problem getting sorted and the same goes for repairing microswitches in the existing pcb you have as there are traders on here that will provide this service. Looks like the steering wheel might need a replacement/redying if the cover is anything to go by and the cupholder is in trouble but both minor niggles easily sorted.

Thanks for the reply, this is encouraging! We are really tempted to go and arrange a viewing, but before we do, what should we be looking for, being a tourer its new to me, also being diesel is something else that is new to me so I'm unsure of what the diesel should sound and drive like.

I have bought a 75 off Chris Watkins. He tends to price his cars at the top price though I managed to get a bit off.
Worth asking him if he has got anything in the pipe line as he seems able to get some very nice 75s

Personally i think the oil burner is the best engine for general use (waiting for incoming flak) Pretty bullet proof engines but they are a rattly diesel at the end of the day. Should pull well altho mildy gutless without a remap (club160 map available from several traders on here again which transforms the car without loss of economy is recommended .. Note other maps are available before i get incoming flak again)

If you find that particular car is not quite to your liking, there will be other members' cars that will suit. You may have to wait a few days though

I found my diesel tourer exceptional, and very lively since I had the 160 remap. It has all the toys I need, and then some, being a Contemporary SE. Why people complain about the "rattly noise" I have no idea, it's hardly noticeable on mine!
