Long may it remain that way.
The aim of your test, to look for a past infection if I'm not mistaken, seems more practicable to me. But ye Gods, not at all sure that DIY test kits that involve stabbing with needles is the safest way to go - I personally would not sign up to that.

Well, I have had my 5 weekly visits and now I’m on my monthly visits. The medical staff DO NOT ENTER YOUR PREMISES, it’s all done on the door stop.
Swab to the back of the mouth, which is a tad unpleasant, then the same swab is pushed up each nostril. It is then transferred to a phial with a screw cap.

I have had 6 negative results so far. And the icing on the cake is I get paid for it. £25 voucher is emailed through to me and I can spend it where I like. There is a drop down menu to choose which shop I wish to spend the voucher with.

As, and when, the vaccine is available I will be having it.
This Bob is the type of test that is on offer to me in the study I mentioned but the swabbing is DIY sent out in the post with instructions and returned via a courier service. No cash incentive whatsoever as per your case but I have now signed up to it regardless to help do my bit with the research of this virus. I've completed the initial online survey and a test kit will be sent out to me early January 2021 and a courier will collect my sample. I can expect notice of the result after about one week of the laboratory test.

I suspect my use of the word 'needle' conjures up visions of a large metal spike. In actuality it was a small plastic device that you place on a fingertip which releases a small pin to puncture the skin when you press a button on the end. I didn't even feel it.

A bit of DIY on an awkward part to get at on your R75 will be almost certain to draw quite a lot of blood.--

I had a test here in France a week and a half ago but haven't had a result yet.----

It's probably taking the lab a long time to separate out the oil, grease, dirt and rust from your blood before they can test it properly.

I had the same test a while ago and, as you say, all perfectly safe and pain free . Pretty much fool proof as well, and much simpler than the swab approach which I also had to do more recently.

slightly diff tack, but we were planning a small 2 family Xmas, we are all covid free and in the vulnerable groups.

But my daughters partner is being made to go to london for work, and we are all against this but his company don't seem to care that it could put us at risk , or he may have to spend Xmas by himself

The question is, does she have a Covid secure Christmas tree on her ward Steve?

I had to ask, as my missus managed to sort something out and the NBC now has an easily cleaned and sanitised inflatable tree
