Default Kv6 fuel feed pipe to injection rail ?

Hi folks,

Still awaiting parts to turn up, thankfully the seals for the fuel feed pipe arrived.
The pipe in question is a metal pipe that clicks into the end of the fuel feed pipe that is held in place with a metal clip and a few seals and spacers.

Because my.old seals were in a poor state when removing the feed pipe, it's hard to determine whether I have inadvertantly lost one spacer.

Here is a snapshot from someone working on their zs V6

I have the metal.securing clip
Plastic spacer that has a wider base at one end to sit flush against the metal clip

O ring

Second o ring

I'm sure between the two o rings there should be a really tiny spacer but.. I maybe missing this piece and I would sooner have this spacer in place despite it appearing very tight and secure at present time.

If anyone can confirm that there should be two small black plastic spacers or any pics etc

No spacers on my V6 75. It's a tight enough fit without sticking anything else in there. Maybe they're a ZT thing?

I aren't sure as ours is a 75.

I've attached a photo that shows where the feed pipe is connected.

From what I've seen on this, there are two o-rings and a plastic spacer. The spacer is easily lost and difficult to replace. This is why you sometimes see feed pipes with three rubber seals to compensate for the gap. This is incorrect since o-rings require the lateral support to work properly.

I'm afraid you've lost the small spacer.
It would be worth scouring eBay for a similar sized one in nylon. Measure the pipe and the rail bore and maybe find something here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...pacer&_sacat=0

Was trying to find the thread whilst working on the car and couldn't find it.

I do have one plastic spacer, but unsure whether there is supposed to be two spacers. If so. I'll begin the hunt

The spacer/collar you have goes against the clip on its wider face. Its inner face forms the stabilising wall for the outermost o-ring. This ring is stabilised on its other side by the missing spacer. This in turn provides the stabilising wall for the innermost o-ring. That's stabilised on the other side by the rebate in the bore of the rail connector. The spring clip compresses the o-rings so they are a snug fit on all four 'sides', radially and axially. Without this arrangement, the o-rings can shimmy sideways and fail to seal under pressure. The use of a third o-ring as a substitute spacer isn't providing the same sealing surface since the rings in contact with each other have soft surfaces. It's better than nothing as evidenced by the number of rails using three rings, but it's not anywhere near as reliable as the correct setup.

Thanks for the in depth reply TC! Hugely appreciated. Now I know that I do have one missing I'll get one found.
You are right above the spacer that I do have, having a wider collar that fits neatly against the metal securing clip.

Not sure how easy/hard it maybe to find one though.

Robert, I think you've set yourself a task few bother to solve. Your 'easiest' way to get a replacement part is to ask on the forum if anyone has one available. Several members dismantle cars for spare parts. Occasionally, the KV6 fuel rails appear on eBay, but they'll want to sell you the full thing. Finding a nylon spacer of the correct size from the dozens available on eBay is unlikely to be 100% successful. You can no doubt find something close, but getting it to fit will involve machining/drilling that isn't easy.

Hi Steve,

Your link concerns the pipe fittings between the LH and RH bank fuel rails. Rob's asking about the connection between the supply pipe from the tank and the LH bank rail.
