The wifes Daughter is in tier 4 and has had her plans ruined, she was just on the phone saying they had made new plans and might just go for a picnic in the park on Christmas day.

We have to remember most of us will have many more Christmases, we will have food, drink and hopefully our health. 75 years ago our parents and/or grand parents were fighting a war and had no idea if they were going to be bombed out of there beds and most people lived for 5 years on what we would consider starvation rations.

We should be grateful for what we have and not for what we dont have. There are over 60k people in this country who wont be seeing this Christmas that probably had not heard of Covid this time last year.

Boris and his sidekicks have made many mistakes but if you look at the rest of the world I have yet too see any other world leaders who are making a better job, New Zealand keeps being advertised and being a shining example but with a population 10% of the UK and 10% more space than we have it is easy to see how. Look at countries like Belgium, Italy, Spain and South America. Belgium had 50% more deaths than the next highest and I have yet to see an article about that on the BBC.
Stats mmm what can we make of them? Australia population is less then half that of the UK but covid death are less then 1/4, whilst this may show Australia is doing better I don't think the figures are the end of the story.
It is more complicated then that.

Default Christmas, Bah Humbug

After the announcement, I am sorry but this Christmas there is no way that I am not seeing family and friends. You can do what you like, but I will be seeing them.
So, on Christmas Day, the following family will be at the table......
Auntie Stella & Uncle Jameson, with cousin Bailey, Malibu & Smirnoff, & the twins Gin & Tonic,
Scottish cousins Johnny Walker and Glen Moray, & from across the pond, bringing some old fashioned Southern Comfort with them my old cousins, Jack Daniels and Jim Beam,
My French mate Remy Martin & his friend Pernod, my Spanish mate Jose Cuevro & his cousin Martini, & Bianco, & her daughter Tequila, my Greek friends Ouzo & Sambuca,
My friends Brandy, Fosters, Snowball & mickey slim,
My Neighbours Captain Morgan & the Grants, the Bells, & the Cointreau's, & the Henneseys,
Auntie Stella is on a warning!! But Rose is going to pop round and check on her.
Merry Christmas, everyone, everywhere!

You are looking too close at the stats.

Step back and look at the bigger picture.

Australia is so large compared to great Britain that it's a wonder any body gets near to another person.---

That map really brings it home, the difference in size.

Europe is a big place and it looks like it would fit twice into Australia.----

My wife working Christmas day.our only other family we know work from home .
They don't see anyone else .

We are told we cannot meet except Christmas day . But we cannot because wife working .
So if we meet the day after boxing Day then we break the law.
So what is our Christmas day .
We have 3 children . Wife key workers working 3 24 Hr shifts a week ?

Well after tomorrows anouncement we're likely to be in Tier 4 or national lockdown again come Boxing day, dispite rates falling steadily round here.

One thing that they haven't considered is that plenty of households, spread christmas visits over a few days, one part of the family go Christmas day, another on Boxing day for example and therefore wouldn't see with one another. By restricting the visits to Christmas day only they are forcing together people who otherwise wouldn't be in contact with one another

Surely then the action taken by the people, not the guidance nor restrictions will be the cause of any virus spread? But who will get the blame?
