No chance, but a dramatic increase in mid range torque makes it drive a huge amount better

Default Perfect tourer

I started a thread of my perfect tourer and my MGZT-T auto +SE is almost that. The only - is the fuel consumption. The best would be my spec car as a CDTi remapped to at least 160, preferably 180. I understand from mikeyboy that the manual diesel cars cam only be remapped to 160 whereas the autos can have more. Something to do with the BMW’s crankshaft is a weaker Rover substitute. As I only want auto I would want a big remap.

150-155 is the maximum on a stock turbo. Only way to get more is to fit a larger turbo, and then you'd want a VNT turbo so you still have boost low down. Max of the stock diesel fuel system is around 178bhp. After that you would have to start changing injectors, rails, HPFPs etc.

you will go to "160BHP", speak to the traders on this forum as the 160 remap from them is tailor made for the car. You will really notice the difference and will be pleased.

If your current insurance company wont insure the car try Adrian Flux

it wont out drag a rice pudding, lets not get carried away
A remapped CDT is a much better car. I have a CDTI and if it is standard then with my style of driving and without the caravan in tow don't feel the need to have it remapped. My CDT, wow yes it needed it, a CDT is a dog, standard.
CDTI is noticeably better

It's about £20 more on the premium. Just got to get it done now ☺️

So any witness, using a modern car as a yardstick, is unlikely to say "it flew away" even if it had a remap.

why so? Perhaps you would have been better to have quoted "it wont out drag a rice pudding, lets not get carried away" . To quote "The witness said the Rover 75 flew away from the lights. The insurance assessor thinks, "a Rover 75 flying away from the lights, surly not, let me check the ECU" does not make sense to me, by all means explain.

You would probably know the difference from a Rover 75 flying away (by Rover 75 standards) from the lights and one that isn't.

Seems one is risking a lot to save a few quid.

I doubt my Car would pay off the kind of debt you speculate

a Re-Map doesn't put a Car in the position of being any more likely to cause an accident than any other Vehicle - an unprofessional/Bad Re-Map may potentially make a Car Dangerous...a Hazard even - likewise an unprofessional/Bad Tyre/Wheel change.

what grounds should we Pay More for Insurance ?

r.e Performance Mods - should we Pay More Insurance if we Pay More for Better/Safer "Performance" Tyres ?

lol..... some folks must have Too Much Money they want to give it away

I Don't have a Re-Map

Paul.

I was under the impression that the CDT and CDTi are the same and the i is just a marketing ploy. I say this as you can have a CDT with 115 or 135 bhp, the same with the CDTi badged cars.
