Default rear windscreen removal

My Zt has aways had rear windscreen de misters that were faulty, missing bits in the elements.
Have a local guy over here who is breaking a zt and was wondering how hard is the rear window to remove?
Thinking ill get a windscreen company do the re fit.

Not too bad. My wife helped me cut the seal. I got a kit from ebay which consisted of two handles and cutting wire. sorry I no longer have a link to the item.

The wire did snap a couple of times but enough was supplied just to thread a new piece, could have been us doing it wrong.

you will need new clips along the bottom of the screen before refitting and also the chrome surround trims usually get bent along with the chrome retainers. they need sealing as well as i dont think the fibre seals for the brackets are still available. these are known leaking points so be forewarned and well prepared for refitting with a professional that he has the parts and knows his onions !! im sure you dont want a swimming pool in the boot even if it is sunny over there.

oh nearly forgot that people on here have had problems with the rear screen element contact connections becoming dislodged and falling off at the rear pillar sides inside but hopefully you will be ok but keep an eye out. .... xsport

Would be worth contacting the company and asking if they could remove it from the donor car for you can’t see costing that much and less hassle for yourself, could be done where the donor car is so 2 out and 1 refitted.

donor car is some kilometres away from me so would be hard to get the whole thing done at once.
As for clips, im not sure if the clips are a standard type unit used in other cars but if unique to a 75/zt, i would think over here they would hard to get.
If i go ahead, i would probably need to get the clips from rimmers etc prior to fitting.

Not really known as a rear windscreen.
Not screening from the wind at all, should be called a rear window.

I think the proper term for an automotive rear window is "Backlight".
