MOT emissions failure 54 ZT CDT
My ZT has failed on emissions - other stuff as well - but emissions the biggest.
Apparently the PLATE was 1.17 but the limit is 1 now? Emissions have never been a problem before, but I may have been having friendly MOT tests. veyr, very, very annoyed, because I've never run the car to fiull temp before a test before and I suspect that wouldn't help this year, as the garage tried the six stage cycle three times to get it to pass. Does anyone know anything or anywhere - proven - that might get it through? If there's nothing real and proven I can do, then I'll just accept it. Thanks, Paul. Sounds to me like they used the wrong limits.
for pre- 2008 turbo diesels the limit is 3.00 or the plate value if lower. As far as I know. Someone correct me if that has changed.

If it struggled then you have a problem and need to get it sorted, it could be clogged up with soot or maybe the intercooler pipe seals are blowing not allowing enough air to mix with the fuel and hence causing smoke. Average value I see on these is 0.6. |

Solved....for now
Thakn sto everyone who made suggestions. Apart from the initial reading, the engine is clear as a bell, and my T4 showed has only ever shown 1 error code, M31, intermittment misifre (I traced it to Cylinder 3) and a new glowie solved that. so:
1. Put redex in 2. Went for on1 hour drive in Sport mode, acclereating as hard as possible and keeping revs up as much as possible. 3. Asked locla friendly garage for 'non-MOT' emissions test. Result: 0.4 0.4. How the HECK did the morning MOTers get a starting figure a whole digit above???? I went back with the new test results, and asked if it was at the right temp. They claimed yes, so I suppose it must have been 'some kind of' injector clogging after all. Who knows if it will pass when repairs are done and it is retested. If I can get it before they test so I can blast it, so much the better. As for the MOTing Garage claiming 'The Govt is trying to legislate old cars off the road' and 'the test limits have gone up'...there is no need for that kind of blarney. Paul |

My CDTI failed on emissions a few years ago, but the garage told me to thrash it immediately before bringing it back for re-test (think they put injector cleaner in it too – can't remember now). I did, and it passed. Don’t know the levels unfortunately.
I retired to N Ireland a while ago, and we don’t have emissions testing for diesels here Actually we don’t even have MOTs right now

I still maintain and have always said coincide your full service on the car, ie all filters, oil, and bottle of this in your tank a week before your MOT.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222076086571 On the day of your MOT make time to run your car for at least 30 minutes on full pelt an hour would be better, this will get the car up to full temp, try to arrive 5 minutes before your booked time. Then you should get good readings on the emissions test. https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=90819
