Dick Barton Special Agent
Any old timers about? Watched Dick Barton Special Agent last night. 2 episodes of 15 minutes each back to back, in colour no less.
That wonderful intro music had us in raptures. The acting? Er, predictable 50/60’s and all the better for it. Not one swear word and, apart from the hinted-at stabbing, no gratuitous violence. Really close close-ups of Fiona Fullerton in her glorious early days. What a treat. 2 more tonight 8.30 Talking Pictures TV. Now, where’s my Liquorice Allsorts.

The films are getting older. Watched a 1941 film with John Mills, Alister Sims and a very young George Coles last night.
Guess that makes it 79 years old. ( I hope I got that all right. )-- |

Dick Barton was I think just post war about late 1945/46 BBC Radio, the Light program 15minutes and around 5.15pm or 5.45pm ?? maybe got the times wrong. It was considered in our circles as a bit over the top!! We were braught up on Paul Temple with his brave and resourceful wife 'Steve' who predated Dick Barton 1944ish? I stand to be corrected on dates and times. Chris.S

I think the Dick Barton series on Talking Pictures dates from the late '70's.
The character is, of course, much older. I have a box set of 3 Hammer films featuring Dick & Snowy which date from '48 - '50. Very corny, but great fun . Cliff
