Default Editing a post - a question

Yesterday I made a typo in the title of a post.

I subsequently went into "edit/delete" and then "advanced". This allowed me to edit the title ( which you can only do from "advanced")

However, whilst the system allowed me to carry out the edit, the old (incorrect) wording was still shown in the main listing.

In desperation, I tried to delete the whole post, and then re-write it from scratch. I ended up with both posts being listed.

This morning, the original is deleted, and all is fine.

So my question :-
Does it take an overnight house keeping operation to complete a delete, or has some kind moderator stepped in?

Mike

What I found in the past is if you start a thread you cannot then go back and edit the original thread title, best option is PM a mod and ask him to do amend it. Any time I have deleted a post it disappears immediately. Sounds like you missed something when deleting and a mod with insomnia spotted the double post.

Yes, edit only gives access to the main text, however, advanced lets you edit the title as well.

Except for the problem as per my original post.

Of course it may have just been a one off funny.

Also, I had never previously tried to delete anything, but I would have expected the same result as you described - instant delete

Haven't tried to edit a title for a very long time (not long after I joined and that's longer ago than I care to remember!), don't think I've ever been into advanced edit.

It was my thinking that only a moderator could edit a title? The body of the post can be edited by the author. IIRC

I always thought that was the case Ronnie. Might try one day if I'm bored enough.

Well I've just made a new thread in Social, and had a look at editing. You can indeed edit the title from the advanced bit Or at least it looks like you can

Many thanks for deleting it.

Had I missed something?
