Default 2.5 V6 Cam Belt Schedule.

Hi All,

My Rover 75 2.5 V6 had its cam belt(s) changed in May 2015. Since then, the car has only done 13,000 miles. What's the thinking on the cam belt? Must it be changed or is it ok having only done 13,000 miles?

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Terry.

In theory, you should be ok with that mileage, but I would change them to be on the safe side. Ask Bob (Flying Banana) about his timing belt - he had a very near miss recently well inside the mileage limit.

If you factor the cost over the 6 yrs, it isn't that much money when compared with the damage that will occur should you be the unlucky one.

Also consider the overall mileage and check if when they were last done were the idler wheels and the tensioner pulley renewed ? If not , they could be in need of attention even if the belts are still ok In my own experience the idlers / tensioners wear more than the belts do !
