Default New Rear Shocks ?

Hi Guys

I was driving my tourer the other day and noticed the near side rear when I drive over a speed bump or uneven surface there is a loud sound from the nearside rear.

I past the MOT last month however on inspection the rubber protection is completely shot and no longer wraps around the shock. After 217,000 miles and 19 years something has to give.

Ideas on new ones ? I have seen ones from DMGS for the MG7 thinking of getting them.

Your advice is always appreciated.

Many Thanks

Chris

i fitted a set from DMGRS on my saloon 2 years ago and they were and still are fine, They were sach's IIRC. Only issue is the paint on them is not very good and they started to rust, rub down and proper coat solved that. I'd recommend them still.
Other option is one's for the BMW 320D, but you will need to drill the bottom mount hole to 14mm to fit.

Before deciding what make to get or what supplier, lift the rear seat base, look at the white sticker, ( spring and damper identification ) under there to see the letter that determines the correct one for your tourer.

Unfortunately these days we've had to 'consolidate' a lot of part designations - while not to the original exact spec, they'll still feel infinitely better than a tired set.
The differences between codes on an otherwise identical car was always very small, so it shouldn't be noticeable.

To anyone after a set, we have them here:
https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/...0531-rpd108411

They seem to last well; we have them fitted to 3 of our fleet currently and our cars are 'well used'

I totally agree with what you say, can I add, the odd surprise sometimes found with a different shocker on each side, obviously done when someone has only replaced one, but with no noticeable difference in the ride.

I have been very happy with Sachs replacements
Whilst you are underneath , replacing the shocks , just check that your exhaust is not banging on the floor .This is a common cause of noises from underneath on our cars , caused by worn rubbers , a badly aligned replacement back box , or an over-enthusuastic MOT man
