Very nice Rob. what milage has it done? I guess the 4 litre is a V8?
Does that mean the Rover has gone? What are these like for reliability? For some reason I have got it into my head they have perculiar suspension on all except the sport which has regular springs? Are they prone to rust etc?

Thanks phill, shes done 100k which is nothing for one of these, it has a inline 6 cyl engine and runs sooo smooth. Shes fitted with self leveling suspension all round with regualar springs. As for reliablilty these cars are bullet proof alough you have got to watch out for rust which luckely my car has none of!

And yes i still have my lovely rover waiting for a new home!

Hmm, my step father bought a Jaguar XJ40 sport 3.2 straight 6 on an L plate (with a Ford key!) about 5 years ago and has probably done 100 miles in it since, that is BRG and spends most of its life in a locked garage sadly. That has done 95K I think. That is very tidy, or was when it went into hiding. Are they that bulletproof? They don't have a great reputation?

The only real faults with the xj40 is the electrics and rust around the floor pans and bulkhead, but thats very rare if you get a well kept one.
And when i mean bullet proof i mean bullet proof, the highest milage xj40 i've broken for spares was on 400k and still running lovely!!! Your step dad will have no problem atall reaching that milage if serviced on the intervals.

It looks lovely Rob, I must confess to being a little bit jealous. I bet she goes like a rocket. Are you planning on keeping her for a while? What are they like on fuel? What are the performance figures for these? Presumably they won't be much slower than a 260?

Well its a Daimler... What happened to the Jag?

Nice looking motor..... Very "busy" dash, and, seeing the handbrake, what octane fuel are you giving it?

Good luck with your new car OB.....

Doris!! Good grief! And I thought "Brenda" was bad!

I always thought that Daimlers were upgraded Jags. I had a DB 18 and a 420G Daimler, the straight 6 .. But I thought all the cars lost their charm when they got rid of the nice round headlights and chrome bumpers..

Nice car though..
