Funnily enough, I found measuring in metric was more accurate than imperial in my industry - printing. An A4 sheet of paper can be very accurately measured at 297mm x 210mm - whereas in imperial, the commonly accepted 8¼" x 11¾" isn't that accurate.

Would they be Mens measurements or ladies?
I find that ladies always seem to under estimate

I'm happy with 'em - still go all my old AF, Whitworth, BSF and BA spanners.
We were to a degree governed by the way paper mills measured paper and they opted to go metric. A lot of the younger staff we employed had enough problems with multiples of 10, never mind introducing them to 2,4,8,16 etc.
