Default Is this correct hose for inline stat

On a diesel, the hose with the red bit of tape on it in the picture, is it the correct hose for the inline thermostat mod and have I got the stat in the right direction?

thank you

About that, but none if you drain and catch it.

Just pop a small bowl underneath when you cut and your catch 99% of the coolant mate, Quick tip for you, test the thermostat before fitting it I have had a few that don’t open correctly at 88° easy to do with a kettle of boiling hot water and a temp probe. I presume your using a Renault 5 start, if so it will probably start opening around 86 degrees and be wide open at 89°

I would have caught a lot more coolant if the pipe had not fallen off the funnel

Eventually managed with help from the wife to push the stat along the top hose.
Topped up the coolant and ran the car on the drive, the needle got to the nine o'lock position. As I had to go out I had to turn the engine off but I know I need to make sure the needle does not continue to climb.

I tried to access the temp display via the trip button but the instructions I printed said to keep pushing the trip until 19 or 1.9 appeared..... it never did

To enable the on-board diagnostics:

a) Put key into ignition and turn it to position 1 (instruments activated).
a2) If you intend driving with diagnostic mode active, start the engine now.
b) Press and hold the trip reset button. This is the button sticking out near the speedometer.
c) Your LCD display will show "test 1.-"
d) Immediately press the reset button every half second until you get to "test 19.-". (19.0 allows access to diagnostic mode)
e) The display will now show alternating "Log 1 -on" / "Log 1 -off"
f) While it shows "Log 1 -off" press the reset button and. .
g) With no delay press within a half second (repeatedly if necessary) to get to the required section.
h) The screen will appear similar to the earlier one, but is a different series. Keep pressing every half second to select one of the following functions (there is no title on screen):

If you're not pressing the button immediately after ''test 1.-'' appears, you'll never get into diagnostic mode. Step f) switches on/off the next stage, so follow the guide. And having done that, you must continue immediately every half second to reach function 7, or it will not work. There's a knack in it which you'll get from practising the routine.

thank you Arctic I'll try again. I already had the engine running when I tried and may not have pushed the trip quickly enough
