Default Wrong callipers!

I have just been told by my local mechanic that the callipers I ordered to replace the originals on my Rover 75 KV6 tourer are wrong! WTF? Turns out that Euro car parts returns the wrong part for the model when you enter your registration. On further digging with one of their desk staff (helpful bloke actually), we discover what we think is the correct part for my car, which they can get for me tomorrow (not from EU Spares, although I'm tempted)! The thing is that these appear to be 'matched' to the 120 PS R75s and 160 PS MG ZTs, so diesel models presumably. But that can't be right can it? Surely they'll fit all variants? Anyone think otherwise?

Reading more carefully, it states 120 PS for R75 and 160 PS for MGZT, which is even more confusing but Rimmers has the same part.

David, to the best of my knowledge all rover 75 discs and pads are the same with the exception of the 190 and the 260

You would think so. Meanwhile, the ECP error has made me look a bit of a tw*t with my local fitter! Thanks David.

Depends on whether you're looking at it from my perspective or theirs. Either way, I blame ECP!

Rimmers supplies front callipers for 282mm or 325mm discs (I'm now pretty sure mine are 282mm). I guess the incorrect callipers ECP supplied earlier are for the 325mm discs and intended for the 190 models? There's so much inaccurate and misleading information about parts out there that it's a minefield for rank amateurs like myself to navigate. I just hope the replacement pads and hoses I purchased (not from ECP I hasten to add) are correct!

yes you are right minty2. although its a 190 engine with an autobox tune it does indeed use the 160 disc and caliper set up on the fronts. some have said that theirs have vented discs on the rears ... not sure about the fronts . some owners say they have solids on the rears of 180 models so who knows if they were fitted like this or changed. ....
