Joining the banger racing fraternity? Surely the natural evolutionary step of every Cambridge?

Great car - my dad had an Austin Cambridge A60 back in the day - grey with a cream flash down the side.

Well I've learned something - I always thought that all the Farina styled Cambridges were A60s, but I guess the early, narrow track ones were just re-bodied round-style 55s. Many years ago, I remember seeing a near-immaculate one just arrived at a Nottingham scrapyard. Enquiring about it, I was told that it's one original owner, now too old and infirm to drive, had asked the scrap man to scrap it, and kept the log book to prevent it being sold on. Scrap man said it would probably go for banger racing, THEN scrapped. I don't think that was what the old man meant...

Well done Brian,
Apologies for slow catch up on your news. Those early Farinas are getting quite rare..Brought back memories of a late A60 [1969] I bought to stop it being scrapped on the basis of it's 60k mileage engine would be useful for a Z Magnette I had with a worn out engine...After replacing a wheel cylinder to get it through an MOT, it became my daily runabout for 5 years at minimal cost. Even a weak battery problem was resolved by the starting handle before a new one eventually bought after several months. After donating it's engine the rest went on to a classic car dealer/breaker for more recycling. Really pleased you've got another classic piece of British motoring, with no need for the T4 or reprogramming any keys! Kevin |

Flooded carb maybe but certainly not a flooded ECU! My Dad had an A110 Westminster, dark maroon. At the same time he was driving one as a Police Traffic car. I always remember being lost sitting in the huge back seat myself!

My first car........ Well the first car I ever travelled in as my father bought a Cambridge estate for my imminent birth in 1970. He told me he suffered it for a couple of years then moved it on and bought a Cortina MK3 GT. I guess it was an aged design even by 1970 compared to the Cortina.

We had a Morris Oxford. Does that count? I remember changing a set of big ends and a back spring on a campsite in Spain. (All spares taken with us - just in case!).
