Well done Hans it is nearly 4 years since I started people thinking about if it could be done or not!

ne of the guys on the BMWNAV forum created a VB script to use as a clock emulator on a laptop and I passed the info on to Jochen amongst others as it proved the principle would work but beyond that I ground to a halt as I am too rusty with electronics now.

Beforehand I did try various bmw based clocks including the E39 time sync unit that uses the radio time signal but that sends its updates to the clock in the IKE which we don't have.

It woul be intersting to know if the ETA function works although I think a BM54 is required for that

If you do get round to building some I would like one as well.

Count me in please Hans, - if you can supply instructions at the time on where & how to fit it as I'm no mechanic!

Default an update

Hi all,
I've been busy with the coolant temperature gauge project.
However I have made progress on the clock project in the mean time.
I worked on an alternative design that eliminates the need for the expensive and hard to source TH3122 chip.
I have come up with a solution and built a prototype that is in my car for several days now.
It seems fine.

This is a picture of what it will look like in the final implementation.

The pcb measures 51 x 47 mm (2.00 x 1.85 ").

I have taken the plunge and ordered 30 pieces.

I have done the maths:
1. DIY kit 34 euro.
2. Assembled, tested 40 euro.

Packing and postage to UK and most of Europe:
Standard mail 5 euro.
Registered mail 9 euro.

Hope you find this reasonable.
Let me know what you think.

Hans

Hans,

Excellent work thank you.

The price is very reasonable and I for one am still very interested.

Keep up the good work.

Hans your'e a wizard!
Consider this an order for one assembled for me pls.

Just out of curiosity - As both use the I-bus interface could this be combined into one system incl. the temperature gauge?
