Default ZT questions...

Now that I am Roverless and have Paul's car I have a few ZT specific questions which are probably obvious to other owners, but I am not sure about.

Firstly, it has a normal Sony Xplod cd player in. Is that how it left the factory? (Nothing wrong with it, just looks a bit weird in the dash space!)

Second, when I turn off the ignition the car makes this little chirping sound like an alarm activating, but none of my Rover's ever did that? It's quite loud and sounds like something from KITT's dash in Knight Rider Is that a ZT thing or something extra been fitted?

Finally, this one is um...hard to explain, but when I touch the accelerator its like I can feel the power from the engine thrum through the whole car. My Rover's didn't do that. I confess I rather like it, but is it normal? Could it be from the induction kit, or something else?

I am surprised at all the differences from Rover to ZT as I am getting to know the car, and find myself rather liking the ZT over the Rovers, even though its bumpier on the 18's lol!

Sony Xplod was not a factory stereo, secondly none of the ZT’s I have or had make chirping sounds when switching off, I wonder if that’s the stereo switching off, I also find that on my diesel ZT’s and 75 diesels the power delivery is smooth and doesn’t feel unusual in anyway, sometimes you feel some vibration if the hydromount is on its way out but that’s often during idle
Just remembered the BBS makes a noise

What is that? Does it mean something?

The power thing doesn't feel wrong, I had mounts go on the Contemporary, it doesn't feel like that. I can't really explain it, but its not like any Rover I've had!

The alarm uses either a separate horn or a BBUS located by the pollen filter, try remote locking the car with a door open if you get a beep then it's a horn if you get a chirp it's a BBUS, usually fitted to cars with headlight washers. Under no circumstances try to remove it, it can't be turned off & is very loud
Looks like this

Hi guys, I just Googled BBS noise and Sony Xplod weird chirp to see if I could find the exact sound....and the prize goes to Mickeyboy! The crazy chirp is the Sony unit telling me I haven't taken its "Face Off" when the ignition is off and it thinks I am getting out lol!

Well that's one weird thing solved! I thought about putting a nice double din in but was going to leave it standard, but if the Sony isn't standard anyway not sure now!

All Sony stereos go boo bee boo bee boop, boo bee boo bee boop, when you turn the ignition off

My original 75 had a factory fitted Sony unit, as did my 25..........I hated the sound
