Hence I would never buy a BMW as much as I like them. Plus when I see them driven I always think BMW stands for big massive w#%@&r so would not like to be tied to that image. Sorry to any BMW owners on here but that's just my observations.
I've had a couple of BMW's. The 1991 M5 was great - taking it to over 7000rpm in second and third gears was fun, but it was not what you might call 'thrashed' - the engine was built for it! As for the 12 cylinder 750iL, it was far too smooth and elegant (and heavy!) even with the pedal to the metal to be called 'thrashed'! 3 series BMW's - probably a different kettle of fish altogether...

Am I a big massive w#%@&r - probably, but one that now pootles about in a diesel 75! Much as I love my Tourer, it's only lack of money that stops me from driving something far more exotic! I suppose I would say the Rover 75 is the best car I could afford - great value and quality for money.

I had my 75th birthday in April, so that's appropriate, I suppose?

Il like your style & love your expression I'd never heard: it made me chuckle a good while.
I put that in the back-burner of my brains: it will be reused!
BTW same for me: 21 and 45 years of experience .

I brought my first ever Rover when i was just 17 and passed my test. It was a Rover 3.0 coupe a 1966. went on from there 22TC then a 3.5. After that a few SD1 2.0 then a 3.5 with a 3.9 lump. Later a couple of 720's a 600 and a Rover 75 2.0 as a company car. Now i own two 75's a 1.8 and a 2.5. You could say i have a thing about Rovers. But now at 62 years old I will carry on loving Rover cars. But my other loves of cars are yanks a lovely Chevy G20 5.7 v8 sits in the drive along with a 4 Gen camaro 3.4 V6

Bought my first SD1 2600 from my father at 18 and had a few other Rovers in my time as you can see below but purchased my first 75 3 years ago and am 53. Was a bit of a punt as it was a little unloved and tired looking on the side of the road for £300 and have come to the conclusion that she's a keeper now

Loved Rovers since I was a very yound lad, but only able to buy the first one (SD1 for a couple quid and still around....) when I was 28. A few years later a TVR was added, which has the Rover Vitesse engine and RV8 NOISE.

Now 53 and still take the TVR out when I feel young and scare/surprise people with it (not the speed as that is for track days). Seems I cannot get rid of Rovers so the fleet only grows. First 75 was a 2003 company car, had to hand that back in after a couple of years as that is what happens to lease stuff, but back in 2011 bought the first private one, then bought one for the wife, saw a midsummer murders look-alike that was too cheap to not buy it and added a petrol 75 as a company car..... For the rest, see the signature
SD1 became the first car of my son (18 years old), we recommissioned it together in just a couple of weeks and he has used it every week. People stare, friends want a ride with him and take this cool car if they need to go anywhere (they are driving audi A5, Octavia VRS, BMW.....) but also for its comfort and it is from 1981! Son bought a month ago an MG ZT 190+ as daily... still only 21. And everybody thinks he did a great job on tuning the ZT, it is very very standard and as it left the factory

Happy Rovering to all and all ages.
Rob

Well I am a bit older than when I last posted on this thread. Will be 86 in November, still driving the 75 I bought in 2004.
My pacemaker has enough power for another 8.7 years minimum.
I hope I have too.
