Central locking not working after battery change
Just woke up to a completely shot battery, breakdown guy, was good enough to take me down to buy a new one ( Yusaka Silver ) and change it for me.
Everything fine now on the starting front but the central locking doesn't work. Any ideas how to reactivate or anything I can try, or am I stuck until a T4 guy can look at it? Cheers in advance |

Try seeing if the central locking works from inside the car while you are sitting in it, or is it just the off the fob it is not working, you could always try a battery re-set disconnect for 30mins then see if it works then. When you realised the battery was dead were you able to gain access then, and did you keep trying to start the car with the lights flickering on & off, did you or have you read the link below. I don't know if it would effect the central locking as well but always worth keeping the warning in your mind https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=106447

Thanks for the response Steve I was aware that it is not wise to continue to try to start a car with a flat battery What happened in my case was I went to the car pressed the open button and the lock dibs didn't lift, so obviously I tried again. I then opened the door manually inserted the key into the ignition tried to turn over twice with no response whatsoever and then bearing in mind that I vaguely remembered the thread that you have linked to called the breakdown people. The breakdown guy hooked up his power pack we started the car twice which then cut out as soon as the power pack was turned off and he declared that the battery was so far gone that it wasn't even capable of keeping the car running whilst started. The battery was lifted out and there was ample evidence of the white stuff that you get off batteries on the battery box floor. We went down Halfords and got a new decent battery, he hooked it back up the car started first time and left the car running for 5 minutes which I am just about to use in the next 10 minutes. So the immobiliser must be okay for the car still to start. But it was only when I went back out later to put something in the car that I found out that the self lock / unlock is no longer working. I tried the central locking button inside the car and no joy there either. |

Make sure your front window operation isn't reversed

Basically it means the car has had a bit of a hissy fit and requires a T4 to reconfigure and reset the ECUs. Happened with my V8 while Russ was trying to get it to speak to his T4.
Try resyncing the remote. Stand close to the car with the driver's door unlocked, press the lock button on the remote four times. Should lock on the fourth. |

Thanks for the replies. The 4 presses of the keyfob didn't work. I hesitate to ask but is there any harm in the old disconnect the battery for 30 minutes school of thought? |

https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...onnect+windows On the third time I decided to try resetting the affected items myself using TOAF to reset them in the BCU . That worked fine However , I decided I didn't want to keep doing this every time I disconnected the battery , and suspected I had an inherent fault in the BCU . I got a bargain buy new BCU on ebay at a mere £14 and was able to program all the settings into the new one using TOAF ( including the keys ! ) . Subsequent battery disconnects have not caused any problem at all
