Default Airbag fault 606 rear centre tensioner - short to ground

Managed to get connected to the airbag module with TOAF on my 75 and it's showing this fault code - 606 rear tensioner - short to ground

So 2 questions:

What is it?

And if I disable it on TOAF will it extinguish the dash light for my MOT?

Cheers

Not had that fault but the first thing I'd try is pulling the centre belt out its full length a couple of times and see if that helps, otherwise I'd be looking at a substitute.
You can disable functions in Toaf but first back-up that module (SRS) and obviously no-one should sit there until it's fixed. Usually disabling things extinguishes the warning - I've disabled my brake pad warning with Toaf but never tried the SRS system.

Regards

Thanks mate - presume I back it up on the main TOAF application then use the airbag tool to disable it?

On my tourer the front seatbelt tensioners are on the seat belt stalks.

At the rear, I would guess that the outer seat tensioners are in the door pillars, like many cars and the center tensioner is in the seat back where the retracting mechanism is.

If so there has to be a cable to it, but to be honest I've not spotted a cable when folding down the seat for extra space or cleaning.

The tensioning can be done both ways.

The short to ground could be anywhere between the tensioner and the SRS / AIRBAG module though.

You could try disabling it, though like many safety systems, especially restraints, it may leave the light on and render the rest of the system inoperative !

The most important thing to be aware of is that before removing any plugs, or doing any checking of components or wiring the battery, after making note of security codes, neg terminal must be disconnected for between 30 seconds, and several mins, depending on manufacturer, to allow the capacitors to discharge, and as a general warning, be aware that airbag system cables are in a yellow sheath.

Sorry, not really familiar with the SRS Tool, but if there's a back-up function within SRS Tool I'd use that one.

Good luck
