Back End Twitching
This is probably more of a ZT question with the stiffer suspension.
Does anyone else suffer (or suffered from) the back end twitching over ruts, bumps and pot holes? I'm not talking about tramlining, I mean when the back end of my ZT hits a not so perfect part of tarmac at speed (probably 50mph+) it feels like it skips to the side a little. I noticed it more the other day with two extra bods in the back seat. I just wondered if anyone else had had this happen and if I need to be looking for anything wrong, or if it's just a characteristic of the car's set-up. Everything is standard set-up BTW.

Check your rear springs are not broken. Usually right down the bottom on about the first coil.

I wondered about that. It has done this since I bought the car over a year ago and I've just taken it as a characteristic. It's just recently I've started to wonder about it.
Rear spring check it is for starters then. Thanks.

In my experience any car with hard suspension is twitchy on bumpy bends.
More noticeable recently as the roads in my area full of small [and not so small] potholes?

Mine has done it since I bought it, see thread here.
Still haven't found the cause, and it is now on new rubber all round. Drive along a straight bit of road, run over a rough bit (manhole etc.), and you can feel the rear twitch. No help at all I know, but you're not alone! If you do cure it, post in BIG BLACK CAPITALS please. Mick |

My first 75 saloon used to do this, on a corner, not particularly fast ad it would go a bit then almost kind of 'catch' very wierd.

It's not just the ZT's then, as like Phil, my 75 does it.. I just assumed it was a combination of being on the 18" ZT wheels, and needing a couple of new tyres at the back..

My 75 does it too, more when wet. I have terrible wanli tyres fitted which haven't much grip in the rain. I presumed it was the tyres

As I stated in my post, it's not the tyres.
Any ideas he asks again? Mick |
