Default Is it belts and water pump time?

I bought the car in Feb 2015 with 88,000 and had the belts and water pump done.

It's now five and bit years later, now on 113,000 and it's service time.

Do I get the belts and water pump done again? I'm now doing fewer than 4,000 miles a year, hardly ever get above 50mph, vast majority is short journeys. Outside of lockdown it's a daily driver.

Thanks!

A controversial subject, my opinion is to change when the manufacturer stipulates and you know it’s done and you can forget about it and not worry. There is some opinion that the replacement interval is set low. Your choice, pick whichever you feel happiest with

6yrs or 90k (whichever comes first) is the interval & I would say that provided there are no untoward noises, all the belts, tensioner, guide roller & water pump were changed last time around & the low mileage you've covered, they should go on for a while yet.

Of course, the right-hand (looking from the O/S front wing) upper cover can be loosened & pulled back to give a partial view of the front belt if needed.

Ah, six years, I thought it was five... well who am I to second guess the manufacturer?
Cheers!

The Connie KV6 I am preparing for use has covered around 70.000 miles and 11 years since the belts were changed. Starts on the button. Makes no noise when running. In fact the mechanic I used to get my rear spring fitted, long story, when he brought it back on trade plates said how smooth and quiet it ran.I have had a look at the auxiliary belt and it looks ok also, but will be changed,so you should be ok for a few more miles,BUT, you may also be unlucky and have one of the three go. Your choice I am afraid.

lots of discussions on here regarding the time / mileage intervals etc. To be sure... change them as per the manufacturers instructions, then you are not playing Russian roulette.

Treat it as insurance............can you afford the belt to let go and write the engine off ?

I understood that the 90,000 miles was effectively mandatory, but "or 6 years "was added as most cars did an average of 15,000 miles per annum. I have the same dilemma with 2 of mine later this year. The guy who did them (recommended on this forum but not named for obvious reasons) recently said I should be safe for another couple of years - one car has done less than 12,000 miles in the 6 years, and the other less than 3,000. Given what they are fetching at the moment, I may chance it for a while.
