I think you should ring 101 and tell them. They may have other reports that put the perp in your district, or if they're covering a wider area. It all helps.
Besides, they're keying cars now, maybe stealing them tomorrow? Things have a tendency to get worse as people become more brazen and feel invincible because no one is doing anything to stop them. And it's a free phone call, takes a few minutes

I am sorry to hear this Rav, it would have been soul destroying to see your car damaged, I know how I would have felt like, yes I would report it, not that they will be interested mind.

Linking to your other thread about wheels Rav, there's a body shop (Scotspray) virtually next door to Ultimate Alloys in Musselburgh. No idea what they'd want to do a door or how long it would take but the boss (Alex) is a genuine guy and they do a good job.

Thanks everyone for the support and advise given. I will be reporting this shortly to the police. Will also polish it soon with the DA machine and see how much of it I can buff out, if anything at all. Worth giving a go. Scum!

Good that you are reporting it, it has to be recorded and may just tie in with other similar cases in your area. Let's hope they get the barstewards.

Know how you feel. my drivers & passengers door keyed right down to primer. used a scratchstick and colour wax but it doesn't hide it. Just get used to this where I live. Last Rover had trainer footprints over bonnet, roof and boot, community police officer said short of arresting every teen on the estate, nothing he could do. Then had someone do a dump on the bonnet. Not interested, finally young Alfie 8 years old ran his bike into rear offside wing denting and scratching it. Saw his gran, he admitted it and said some older lads had told him to do it. Dad in Liverpool Jail, mum off with the horse drawn gypsy caravan. No chance. With this 75, local kids must have seen me washing, waxing & polishing car. Went out later to find a pile of grass over the bonnet. Love my car, mechanically sound, but no point in worrying about cosmetics. Feel for you!

Rav. If the scratch is down to the undercoat/ primer, you can not polish it out I am afraid. The only chance you have is that it is only down to the top coat.
