Hhmmm, hard to say without seeing it... trouble is, I don't have TOAF (or even a Rover ) any more, so can't run it up on mine. I *THOUGHT* you could change the port in TOAF... maybe somebody else could have a look on their laptop? You probably wouldn't do much harm by changing the port in Device Manager, but as I'm not there to help you, I don't want to push you that way... there's not much that uses the COM ports these days, and if it's a modem or something it should reconfigure it to another port if you take one away, but I can't promise.

It turns out that the dial-up modem was on COM3. Yes, my laptop really is that old - I brought it out of retirement, specifically for TOAF. Anyway, I've assigned COM5 to the modem and COM3 to the cable and it connects. I just need to figure out how to use it now, without bricking the car. |

Can't imagine you'll be using the modem much Quote:
Everything TOAF can alter is stored in files - if you study it all carefully, you'll see options to save the current config as a file before changing anything. That way, if you f it up, you can restore from backup and all will be hunky dory again Really hope it helps you with your auto box - keep us posted
