Default EEK is this the 1st Mech Disaster

Not used the Auto for a few days

Went out this morning and massive thumping /crashing on the gear changes ,

Gets worse as you go down the gears so 1 to 2nd 2nd to 3rd massive thump .

Hoping it might be the tear drop has destroyed its self , otherwise ???

2/4 brake solenoid is usually the culprit for harsh gear changes

These were the symptoms of my 2/4 duty solenoid failure.

Mat (DMGRS) did a how to HERE (if you havent seen it already), and provides the resistance values too, for testing.

If you have a warm dry place to carry it out, I would recommend it - it is not difficult, just time consuming, and a lot of fiddly nuts and bolts to remove, which in cold weather is uncomfortable (mine went at the end of Oct/Nov.).

Get a decent sealant for the cover.

If you do not find your replacement solenoid, you may be interested in a repair (I have repaired mine for future use - although I am not holding my breath on its reliability lol). There is a link to a video I discovered on Youtube for repairing these, along with the result of my repair HERE.

A fluid change can also work wonders for hard shifting.

Tis due for a fluid change in the New year ...

so number one on the list

As this morning I popped out in the rain to have a lookse, didn't have time yesterday.

No thumping , went for a 10 mile drive with no issues, will keep an eye on it for the time being , at least the pressure is off for Xmas

happy Christmas to ALL

Really.--I guess you might have to put your rates up to cover the extra charges.---

Make it number two. Check the resistances of the solenoids before changing the fluid. To change the solenoid, you need to drain at least half the fluid anyway. You may have to lose part of the oil you change, if it turns out to be a solenoid.
