I have been exchanging text messages with Rod as he is not up to phone calls or visiting the forum. Rod and Angela will be having a quiet Christmas at home. I told him how his mates in the club ask after him. I am sure this would have cheered him up.

What is everyone up to for Christmas?

Because of the weather here, tomorrow our family are meeting up in the garden for the traditional present opening. Pimms, iced tea and orange juice will be served.

Apart from that, like Rod and Angela we will be having a quiet Christmas.

Afternoon all, Spring rolls look good Steve I'm ready for some of that soup I made yesterday. I must be bored because I've washed the car this morning, tidied the garage & re-potted a load of young strawberry plants, Some of them had the dreaded vine weevil grubs in them I picked them out of the roots & threw them to the Robin that made short work of them
Thanks for the heads up on Rod Phil, Miss him on the forum. We bought a turkey crown for Christmas dinner as a full bird is too much for us, mind you this crown is big enough, I can see most of it being used for soups & frozen.

We'll be going across to Mams house tomorrow to see my older brother & younger sister, My other younger brother & his family & grand kids have booked a cottage in the wilds of Wales somewhere. I sha\ll be raising a toast to them with a glass of nice 8 year old whisky I bought from Aldi the other day.

Cool

Afternoon all, just had a phone call from the hospital about my upcoming X-Ray appointment. They have brought it forward to the 31st of this month. I’m hoping they have the right person as I never had an appointment in the first place. I was going to phone this morning about getting an appointment.

Won't be doing a lot Phil, Ging is working 07:00 til 19:30. Had to work many a Christmas (and New Year) myself, both on the footplate and supervisory/managerial side. Every depot had drivers and supervisors/managers on duty for frost precautions, BR vintage diesels didn't have antifreeze and had to be started and run every few hours, the frequency and how long they ran for depended on the temperature right up to run continuously if the temp was low enough. More recently it was decided the festive period was a good time for major engineering work.

Even had a driver who would volunteer for a late shift every Christmas day so that he didn't have to look at his brother in law over the table during Christmas dinner, he couldn't stand him

Quality control is essential when prepping food, im surprised at the low number submitted for testing to be honest...

Didn't want to be too thorough with quality control sampling, dunno how many Ging's planning on taking. Everybody bringing food. I know my spring rolls are favourites and disappear quickly.
