Swap ATC to manual Air Con - anyone converted ??
As per title really, just wondered if anyone has done this, what's involved, etc. Any thoughts appreciated
My partner had to drive my 75 unexpectedly recently and trying to explain by text how the ATC operates was quite a task, when all she really needed was to demist the screen. Hence this post... I've never been too worried about all the various features of the ATC system, would be happy with normal knobs, just wondering if there are any hidden obstacles e.g. the auto HRW switch on, etc ?

I would guess that it would be very involved due to different wiring systems, etc....
Probably a lot easier to take fifteen minutes to go over the controls with her. The demist function is only one press of a button after all. Saying that though, even when you're used to the ATC, they can still be a bit fiddly when you're on the move so l know what you mean.

That's a very fair point I never gave the demist button a thought as for some reason I always set the blower up manually, doing direction, fan speed, temp, etc. as individual settings...
Maybe I'll keep a look out for a cheap scrap Classic, or one in a breakers and see about removing the complete HVAC system Could be an interesting project

I’ve done this swap a couple of times and is fairly straightforward but you do need to remove centre console, full dash, the reinforcement bar that runs behind the dash too and I find it easier when the carpets are out too.
Once you can get to it it’s a case of swapping the full heater box (wiring is the same between both types) then once fitted a T4 session to alter the zcs coding so the car is aware of what you have done. Easily doable in a day, but you need lots of space!!

Thanks for that Andy, sounds like a fairly straightforward job if everything is done in order and a donor car is available
Just need to find a T4 locally or make a trip across to Norfolk.... Thanks again, much appreciated
