Yeah, being using the A5 ever since they removed the hard-shoulder on the M1 when I visit Burton-on-Trent. Towcester is a bit of a bottle-neck and haven't tried the SS but it's pictured in one of the grey cells.

It's very popular with the bikers. Last time l was in it was decorated with pictures of racing cars, being close to Silverstone l suppose. But it has had a major revamp & motorbikes are now the focus. David Bowie too which is OK by me.

Not if it's a head-on coming together!

Another reason for not using non-motorways is the increase in fuel consumption and emissions from the frequent changes of speed. Unless one is in an EV of course, where range is greater than when maintaining motorway speeds for long periods. I'm not sure that promoting EV use is the main aim of this forum...
