Default Need a good Rover mechanic in Wolverhampton area-any recommendations?

I'm looking for a good mechanic in Wolverhampton area who specializes in Rover 75 repairs. Has anybody got any recommendations.
Also has anybody got any experience of dealing with Russell at mgroversolutions-he seems to have good reviews but a bit concerned about how good a job he can do on the driveway (possible head gasket problem on 1.8 engine)
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,
there's the MG Garage Summit at Dudley (the Newey's are real MG Rover) enthusiasts, or Austin Garages up at Burton upon Trent.
Personally I wouldn't use a mobile guy, but some do.

I spent 12 months plus trying to sort an annoying startup knock on my KV6 which alluded a whole host of experienced MGR mechanics. On my brothers recommendation, I contacted Russell and he diagnosed the issue within 10 minutes (piston slap). He said it could safely be ignored for a good while at least, however I wanted it resolved, so Russell took the job on, which involved removing the engine and replacing liners / pistons, a new set of main bearings (just seemed sensible) and a new clutch whilst everything was out. The main strip down was done on my drive, and Russell took the engine block back to his place to work on, leaving me with the car, 2 cylinder heads, and a lot of bolts .

Suffice to say the car now runs nice and quiet and I really cant fault the guy. He made removing and replacing the cylinder heads look like a walk in the park and in the 12 months since the work was done there have been zero issues. I have no doubt he would sort your HG issues in the space of a morning and can't recommend him highly enough .

Alternatively, if you really don't want a mobile mechanic, I don't think you're too far away from Lates.

Cliff

Having seen and drooled over Cliff's car on many occasions, if he recommends a mechanic you won't go far wrong.

Thanks for recommendations for Summit at Dudley-I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.
Lates at Coventry looks interesting but a bit further away.
My preferred person would probably be Russell at mgroversolutions but looking at his location he is the other side of London (170 miles away) so I don't think somehow he would travel to me!! I have left him a message as I'm sure his knowledge/advice would be invaluable and hope he will return my call.

You may be pleasantly surprised - I know he's travelled up to Liverpool and beyond before now. Of course, he may have had multiple jobs in the area at the time.

Russell at MG Rover solutions i would highly recommend as he changed the head on my 75 1.8 and gives a good guarantee. Really pleased how my car runs now. He did the job outside, no problems.
