Default 75's that are ULEZ compliant

At the London & South breakfast yesterday, it was suggested to me that tfl's list of chargeable / non chargeable cars has actually been refined / updated.

In my case, checked yesterday :-

51 reg 2.5 auto - no charge
52 reg 1.8 auto - no charge.
04 reg CDTi auto - chargeable.

Certainly the 2.5 showed "chargeable", when checked about a year ago.

Maybe we can build a complete picture.

Regards

Mike

I've seen a few differences between CAZ's as to what is chargeable, Most have to be Euro Cat 5 Petrol (2009 onwards) & there are a few Euro Cat 4 petrol (2006 onwards) all diesel have to be Euro Cat 6.

It's my understanding that ULEZ compliance isn't based upon CO2 emissions. That's used only for VED (road tax) bands.

The Euro standards consider CO (carbon monoxide), HC (hydrocarbons), NOx (oxides of nitrogen) and PM (particulate matter: diesels only).

I'm not sure that the "Motorway" ULEZ checker is correct to quote CO2. The AA & RAC websites don't mention it.

They're calling for more consistency regards CAZ's as there are conflicting answers on some emission sites. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/env...-vauxhall-boss

ULEZ Checker
That makes no sense. What if you have a 2001 V6 that wasn't registered until 2002?

At least in the case of petrol cars, I think the existing schemes/checkers are looking for compliance specifically with the Euro 4 NoX value rather than simply Euro 4 itself.

Cars registered from 2001 comply with Euro 3 which means a NoX value is recorded on the V5C, this value is also within the Euro 4 standard even if Euro 4 itself came later. However earlier cars do not record a value and consequently the ULEZ checker treats them as non-compliant even though they are mechanically the same. A case of 'computer says no', so to speak.

I have a Y reg and 51 plate and both are given as compliant with the london ULEZ and Birmingham schemes.

Hope this is helpful.

The Mayor of London himself wrote to me last month to advise that my diesel Tourer was noncompliant. I am now expecting 3 more letters for my other diesels! What a waste of resources. If I were ever to drive in London I would use one of my V6s obviously.

More total tosh from the leadership in the country that don’t understand vehicles.

You would think the Secretary of State for transport would have a clue due to the position he holds.

That's a bit of a wild assumption there!
