Default CDT Remap.

Looking to remap my car. I have looked on ebay for a cable to the OBD port but cautious of the quality of what I will receive. And the online software is an unknown quantity as i'm not sure which one to use. I don't want to fry the car.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Regards.

The OBD cable set-up is just for diagnostics or adjustment of stuff using TOAF. I don't think you can do a remap through the OBD port - well, maybe load the X-Part 131 map, but for sure, get a fellow here to do the 160, no question.

I have been advised to avoid anything that states the 160 map. Advised to go to Reidy Remaps.

Why is that?
Literally hundreds and hundreds have had the 160 map over the years with no problems.
Nothing wrong with Riedy maps though, except it will cost a lot more

A friend who knows these cars, No T4 No 160. No evidence a 160 map hits 160 on a rolling road even when set correctly. Bear in mind I asked the question to him after posting here.

The evidence was on here with posted results and pictures of the rolling road printouts but due to photobuckets greed the photos showing the results were permanently lost along with a lot of other unrelated information on other matters.

These were independent results done by owners not ourselves. As those owners have moved on and are no longer active members it hasn't been possible to get them to resubmit them.

Ask on here if the 160 map works or search the many threads about it. We've never actively advertised or promoted the map it's all been done by people who have had it done.

There's lots of "expert" advice, from experience a lot of it is far from it or comes through people trying to promote their own or friends products.

Be wary of the eBay cables. You might get lucky or it might die halfway through a write leaving you stranded until someone can try and save it.

The 160 map is fine for a little torque boost and additional pedal response, certainly better than some other work I've seen over the years. It doesn't make the '160' figures though as stock turbo itself struggles to do much better than 150HP (it is embarrassingly tiny after all) and that's with a decent amount more fuel injected.

Bigger turbo will be needed to get past 150. This isn't as big a detail as it sounds and can be done with minimal cost in an afternoon.
