What to do
Hi People
Driving into town the other day i heard a grinding sound coming from the rear of my tourer. Got home after it was starting to get louder. Jacked her up and its the offsisde rear wheel. Spun it and sure enough me thinks its the Backplates that have rusted. After 17 years and 210,000 something had to give. I have given serious though of parting with her. I already need front drop links and by backbox is looking like a tea bag. Do i cut my losses was looking at a Lexus. (Darkside i know) Plus side have got my hi line system working again. Part of me wants to keep hold of her but trying to her going on limited budget its getting difficult. People are saying you have a fine car keep her mate getting rare now. What to do indeed. Thanks people Chris Many thanks for reading |

for the cost of repair I'd keep it particularly if you can do the jobs yourself but it also depends on how much you want a Lexus.
cost of repair + depreciation v cost of Lexus + depreciation. financially you are probably better to keep you 75 and repair it macafee2 |

Depends on the age/spec/mileage/ service history of the Lexus.🤔
A mate got a cracking one (Lexus)last year, with circa 120k miles, for about £2.5k. Not exactly sure of the age though. But, all in all, a more modern car, for a reasonably comparable cost. Then again, it’s new to him so service history will be an unknown. Horses for courses I suppose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

6 months ago my son in law gave me his Lexus IS 220d as he was no longer using it. Using both cars. Impressions - solid well made car. Rear wheel drive and there is not much room in back. Compared to my 160 bhp diesel it is not as flexible and does not give impression of having an extra 17 bhp. Fuel consumption is 8 -10 mpg worse than my tourer. |
