All these great old cars and vans used to pass tests in.

I passed on my 17th birthday in Nov 1973 driving a Datsun Sunny. I wasn't asked to do a 3 point turn or a hill start, I did an emergency stop and reversed around a corner.
We went about half a mile from the test centre and just drove around for ten minutes and then back to the test centre, he said congratulations and that was it, maybe 20 minutes including asking me some questions, it was snowing too and I still had to do hand signals

Taught in my dads Ford Corsair V4, then he told to get some lessons before I took the test from the local instructor to make sure I knew what was needed.

Passed first time in 1968 in a mk1 Escort 1100. It was such an easy car to drive

I took my first "instructional" trips with the old man in a 1968 Mini fitted with a 1300 twin carb MG lump. That was fun. Official lessons were in standard Mini 1000s. Took and passed the test in the 1300. It was in Hemel Hempstead as I remember.

The day in history I would choose to go back in time just to see Newcastle win a domestic trophy.

I actually passed my test on Saint George's day last year, in a Diesel toyota yaris MK3, which I really rated, thought it was ace. Nothing on the Rover of course, but a very nice and forgiving car to learn in. Only criticisms are the oddly long throw gearstick and light steering. Still took me 3 tries to pass, I put it down to nerves.
