Many thanks Ian a fitting tribute to an old soldier, every time we get into the Black Pearl we think of him, is it okay to tell Lillian what you have done.

Many thanks.

Derek was a gentleman - and I only knew him via the written word on this forum RIP.

Cheers,
Karl.

Update

Today is day one of the Weymouth Veterans weekend so this morning Jan and myself will place the tribute to Derek at the memorial.
Coincidentally it turns out that today is "Windrush Day"
https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/uk/windrush-day

Then we take our place on the promenade for the weekend helping to raise funds for a local veterans charity that was set up only a short while ago.

A very fine gesture indeed. I knew of Derek's involvement with the Royal Hampshires but I had no idea of his connection to the RAF as shown on the tribute card.
