Default [Solved - almost] Application launcher and Google Services Framework error

Hi Guys,

Since a few days my NavAll 1 Android head unit has become unusable. After boot it gives me the following messages:

Quote:
The application launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Followed by

Quote:
The application Google Services Framework (process com.android.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
The last message keeps repeating endlessly and as a result I get no interface.

So what have I done up until now?
  • Reset the HU using the hole under the right knob
  • Disconnected the battery and left the car standing overnight
  • Searched the forum for the specific messages (no luck)
  • Tried to exorcise the error using Holy Water, Garlic and a wooden cross

Are there other ways to reset the unit? Since I have no interface I cannot clear the cache.

Any help greatly appreciated as always

Can you use the SRC button? Usually when I get those messages they clear long enough to get to the factory reset menu in settings. Factory reset should work if you can get there.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I wish I could but I think the fact that the launcher crashes at startup prevents me from entering the settings menu.

Isn't there a "secret" combination of button sequences I can use?

Hi Sjonnie

Do you have the firmware?
You need to reload it ,. It appears that one of your Apps is conflicting and also be certain that you are shutting the unit down before turning off the ignition. It has developed a glitch, Quickest way is to re-install the firmware,........ Ill send it now . Instructions are there as well. just power the unit off and hen Push the SRC to start it with the SD Card /Firmware in the slot. Sean

Hi Sean,

Tx! Downloading as we speak.

Will have a good look at the instructions before I apply the firmware. But I just know it will work.

Thanks a million!!

Hi Sean,

Update completed successfully

It took some time and a lot of beeps but after about 10 minutes it came through. Had to change the boot logo back to MG (it showed BMW ) and re-install iGo and my own apps (like PowerAmp). As far as I can check at the moment all is working as intended.

Glad I bought a NavAll is all I can say

OK, Little hick-up has come around the corner.

My iGo app is being stubborn. This is what is happening:

I live in a rural area in the center of the Netherlands. My house has a regular postal address but it is one that most card makers have to ignore (they are not allowed on the communal premises). Most nav software tells me that I live in a unknown/unreachable area but go ahead plotting the route anyway.

The iGo software tells me I live in an unreachable area and keeps showing me that dialog until I close the app with task manager.

Are there updated maps available (I haven't had the unit for more than a few months) that solve the issue? Or can I tell the software to ignore the warning and plot the route?

Tx in advance.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply.

I have had a Mr. Spock moment and come to the conclusion that
Quote:
logic clearly dictates
that new maps are not going to solve my issue (cartographers are still not allowed on our premises). I will give him a shout though to verify

I think (or actually: hope) it must be something in the settings of the software. I have not had the problem before but have no idea where to look in the settings to correct it

Any pointers would be appreciated

I've never come across the problem so haven't got an answer to it.
Tony Fry may have an idea as he is our resident SatNav Guru
