Default Retro fitting fog lamp – advice please

Hi there
If fitting front fog lamps (diesel) do I need a new light switch module – or can I just “plug-in” a front facia switch panel which has the fog lamp switch – hope this makes sense.
Mant thanks
Dave

Only the front panel needs changing. Don't change the complete LSM it could cause problems with display in the instrument panel.

Not only cause problems with display. The unit actually holds the mileometer reading. And needs to be matched to the ECU. So as stated, only change the front panel which has the switches. Get the new panel and simply plug in

Many thanks for the quick response – I’d read that the module was linked to the instrument panel, but also read recently that the whole module needed changed if fitting new fogs – That said I suspected that the front panel only needed to be changed , so again thanks for the confirmation.

Have you fitted the additional relay and fusebox connection to run the lamps from the new LSM?

Not fitted yet – Just got the bits – Assumed (hoped) relays would already be present – Did ask this of the seller (Scrap yard) and he said that the relays should be there also got him to throw in the switch for free. The next problem - is that I’m now concerned that the lamps are the wrong ones as he said that the lamps would fit the facelift bumper – but I have a nagging suspicion that they are pre the face lift models – If this is the case there may be a set of lamps and switch looking for a new home. Unfortunately I bought these when I was out off the country – got them delivered to my parents and not yet had the chance to collect to check.
Regards
Dave

Default Retro fitting fog lamps – advice please

Just called my father and guess what........ the fogs are oval in shape – Am I right in thinking that the lamps for the face lift bumper should be round if so then the guy I bought the lamps from either doesn’t know his business or knowingly mis-sold them to me – Thought I’d asked the right questions just goes to show the problems when buying via the internet/phone and not dealing in person.

No, they're oval as well. The bumper is curved so the lamps only appear circular from head on.
The lamps for the ZT are circular though.

There's only one relay and it's not installed unless there are lamps. The OEM foglamps kit comes with the relay.

The pre- and post-facelift lamps are slightly different. The mounting brackets and screw holes are identical, but the beam adjusters are positioned differently. This means the pre-lamps won't fit correctly to the post-bumper without minor surgery.

If you require fitting details for the pre-kit, here's a copy of the Installation Booklet that comes with the kit. Note the page numbers, I just photocopied the sheets.

The facelift has exactly the same procedure apart from the bezels/inserts (image 37), which aren't needed.

VMT – can’t believe how quickly you replied with that amount of detail – clearly I’m a little happier now – Just have to locate the replay.
Thanks again
