mg zt 190+ engine noise think water pump ?
hi there and thanks for accepting me on this forum
currently a owner of a mg zt 190 + black beauty but on doing my sunday shopping i come across a noise on tick over sounds like belt rubbing on the left side of engine could this be a water pump noise and im i right in thinking its now due a cambelt my milage is 79k on a 2001 model any answers and help will be most help full and lets hope my baby keeps treating me right many thanks inadvance craig |

Hi, and to the club.
Unless you have evidence in any paperwork to say that the belts have been changed, then it's due the cambelts changing. Due at 6 years or 90,000 whichever comes first. Plenty to look at on here plenty of tips and how-to's. If you don't already know about plenum drains, check them now otherwise it can lead to all sorts of potentially expensive problems. Russ

Most people in the know will also have the water pump replaced while the belts are being done. Get them to check the thermostat housing too.

many thanks for you reply so quick quess its cambelt time here goes a few pounds this side of christmas . also heard alot about these plenum drains, but not sure where they are i have heard they give you lots of problems could these drains be effecting my central locking and dash light bulb staying on many thanks again craig |
