I scraped all the loose paint and rust off then sprayed it with dinitrol rust convertor first then hammerite on top.

Cleaned it today, in preparation for its refurbed aftermarket alloys, last time she will sit on these boots for a while. She will be sitting on a set of 17" Dotz Chronos, albeit no longer chromed as they leave the factory due to them corroding so easily and why they are being refurbed Also for anyone else who likes tinted rear windows, but do not want to pay the price or the hastle of doing the job yourself, I came across these on ebay.... on my car you can just make them out on the rear windows. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3112908781...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT They can be easily removed. All I will say is, if you do get them the rear window comes in two pieces, and the stick on hooks are useless..... they fall off in heat. So I have used the suction hooks you get in cheap shops ( to hang Christmas lights etc on windows ), bent them to grip the outside edge of the shades and these have worked. Apart from that they certainly stop prying eyes snooping in, and keep the sun fade away. |

started to repair the tailgate strut bolt that decided it wanted to come out and fall onto the floor - typical just as a 'hot young lady' was walking past. Sometimes I hate cars......
anyway, managed to get a new hex nut behind the skin along with some penny washers, all now nicely sandwiched in with some gorilla glue. Gonna leave overnight to set hard... lets see what tomorrows new challenge will be - hopefully fitting the EGR bypass courtesy of Mat.

Finally managed to get the dash changed to Walnut today, only for the nearside front indicator to blow as soon as started the car and went into town!
So got to change that in the morning and then if it's dry, change the console lower to Walnut as well! |

I did it on mine to check the parking sensors too, without success, alas, so I fitted an aftermarket set instead. If anyone´s interested I still have the original bits to give away /post at cost: - complete set plugs and loom in very good condition, no corrosion at splices - 3 sensors original painted green which are ticking +1 silent - 1 new sensor ticking (but slightly different sound) - control box This gave a warning beep when I bought the car, no obstacle detection. After substituting the non-ticking sensor there was no more warning beep, but neither was there any sound for obstacles either. That´s when I gave up and removed it all. Going spare now to a good home... |

Just washed it as it had 2 months worth of dust and stuff having been parked next to a main road.
Now ready for the MOT on Monday having had a new gearbox, lower wishbone, abs sensor and bearing.
