Took both xenon headlights of from 'No.3', peeled off the protective mesh that had been fitted by the previous owner, got rid of the clouding on the lenses with 3M headlight restoring kit, refitted them and very pleased with the result. Getting to be a dab hand at doing this now as I've now done it to all three cars.

Not really today but on Sunday, I decided to change my wheels.
I bought and fitted a slightly worn set of Uniroyal rain expert 3s on very nice comet wheels on this forum at the start of May.
However having only had 1 day of drizzly rain to drive in since then I decided to take them back off, to save for the winter months and put my original unions back on, especially with no end to the hot weather in sight.

I took the unions off in March due to the snow (who remembers that in the heatwave?!!!) and fitted some winter tyres to an old set of contours I got cheap on Gumtree. I replaced them with the comets in May to store for next winter.

Just watched the weather tonight and we probably have thunderstorms on Friday and I've got to drive from Plymouth to Chippenham.
Should have kept the rain experts on

I have bought some bits ready for servicing and MOT work.
Currently have a new offside rear back plate, PCV filter, oil & air filter, oil and front pads. Just need to get rear discs and handbrake shoes and will start hitting it with the spanners!
Got the pads, oil & air filter using the latest ECP offer.
I have 190 brakes fitted, and chose the Brembo pads and Bosch air filter and it came in at £54.23 Pretty good I thought.

Took the KV6 Connie Tourer for Mot today, after having been idle since September while I'd done a few jobs on it, including cambelts, water pump, thermostat etc. Partway on the 10 milew drive I tested the brakes with a really hard push, then heard the squealing due to a stuck caliper; the front left wheel was very hot when I arrived at the garage.

I told them, but they said we'll test it anyway. To my surprise if failed just on the sticking brake and a number plate bulb (minor fail). Said I couldn't really drive home due to risk of boiling the brake fluid, and as there was 10 minutes before the next test, he took the caliper off, checked it for movement, added copper grease and reassenbled it, then gave me a pass certificate! Wouldn't take anymore than the £45 for the test.

What service! I'm not going to name the garage in case the way this was done does not comply with government regs, but will certainly be using them in the future despite the extra 20 miles involved.

I might add the car performs much better since I corrected the valve timing while fitting the belts.

If you find that next year it's no longer as efficient ask your friendly A/C man to put a tube of A/C sealant in. Costs about £20 plus his time and helps to seal the micro leaks from the seals. Had to do it to mine as my pressure was down 50% from the regas level of last year. The fact that yours needed a top up suggests that such molecular level leaks exist but might take another three years before the A/C fails to perform to spec.

rear disks handbrake shoes & pads and nearside rear wheel bearing on moonie.

Can someone please tell me why the idiot designers made sure that the holes in the bearing plate (the wheel bolt holes) don't line up with either the fasteners for the handbrake shoes or the adjuster????????? Idiots. It's ok if you're replacing the bearing but I see no need to disturb one that's ok.
