Anybody want to buy a used OEM oil filter that has mysteriously worked loose/started to leak around the seal after being fitted 10months????????.
Never known anything like it. Going to run without the tray on for a few days see if any thing else is showing Very lucky really if we hadn't gone Sutton Bank way and stressed the engine which in turn pushed the oil onto the undertray and subsequently the exhaust. Then I would have carried on in ignorance until the oil light came on, game over.

I have seen that a few times on the kv6 Dave, it happened to Debs ZT once!
Thankfully we spotted it while on the drive (the joys of no undertray)

Lucky escape there Dave, not heard of that before. Glad you caught it in time.
Was it because you were doing warp factor 4? .

I remember going up Sutton Bank in a 1951 Ford Pop (sit up and beg) going down the box until in first gear, thinking "I haven't got any more gears!" Old Henry didn't let me down though and a lovely day out was had by all (after we decided to walk into Robin Hoods Bay for fish and chips!).

Sorry to hear about this Dave. Did you install the filter? Got to admit I have never heard of that happening before. That’s a story for the Nano Meet.......if we ever get another one. Hope there is no lasting problem because of it.

Glad it turned out to be simple and cheap to fix. Weird & worrying though.

You just never know when it's going to happen! No matter how careful you are with servicing and know these cars inside out, something will take you by surprise. On my return to Robin Hood Airport yesterday, I noted several relatively new cars awaiting breakdown recovery in both directions, presumably due to cooling issues (it was 31°C on the A1). In your case, an insecure oil filter would be something that would never have occurred to me. On the contrary, they're normally a pig to loosen up! Glad you got back safely and hope the engine suffered no lasting damage. Must come over for a set of your modified VIS motors before the summer's out!
