Default Turbo woes!

Dear all,

I have an MG ZT 1.8T '53. Ive noticed my turbo producing a more noticeable whistle these last few days when accelerating slightly harder than normal. Tonight whilst driving home I accelerated towards 3500rpm in 3rd, when the acceleration suddenly went a little jumpy/lumpy accompanied by the louder than normal whistling.

Its still a bit too warm in the engine bay to touch anything, but there are a couple of thin diameter pipes (?) sheathed in plastic which eminate from the small box on the side of the air filter. There are a few other pipes aswell, however the two in particular disappear down towards the bottom of the rad. When I get a torch down there, one of the pipes is connected somewhere, but the other is hanging free. It would appear to have an 'L' shaped rubber shroud on the end.

I dont know if any of this makes sense, but I would be very grateful if anyone could shed some light??

Many thanks.

Default # UPDATE # Turbo woes!

Have found where the pipe should connect. There's a shiny nipple on the side of the turbo unit (very well hidden!) missing a corresponding 'L' shaped rubber connector. Have reconnected it and all is well, however its just blown off again and now its too hot to put back! Need to fit a jubilee clip I think.

Glad you found the cause of the whistle and hopefully once secured things should be fine.

i would get a new pipe/connector to stop it from coming off, as a temp measure put a cable tie around the pipe and pull it tight
