EP on dash

Hi
The Tourer has been sitting for a while and battery was flat, charged it over night but seems to be knackered as has not taken a charge........now the EP has come on in gear select illumination ..........ECU is dry ....fuel light is on so low fuel ......could this be because of the flat battery or is it a coincidence ? Any help would be gratefully received

Does the oil light come on as it should with the key to position II?

If not then it could be the CAN bus controller in the ECM has failed.

Marinabrian can sort it for you - he did mine.

Dash lights come on as normal, battery flat so just clicking ............should I just replace the battery first then see if fault clears ? I have read that it can clear itself.

That sounds like a good plan.

Low voltage can cause all sorts of gremlins to come out of hiding.

Hi there,

Yes I have seen this plenty of times when the battery has gone flat and somebody has attempted to start the car in diesel Auto format EP is displayed a new battery will resolve the issue.

However when it starts clicking I wouldn't keep trying to start it as it is possible that the headlights. Flashing and it could lose the rolling code, also the ECM won't allow the vehicle to start below about some voltage.
