Did a 320 mile round trip in my k-series engined 75 to put a deposit on a 2.5 KV6 Connie . The 1.8 didn't miss a beat and handled 20 mins of stop start traffic on the motorway well. I used to have a 2012 Merc C-class and would get a numb lower back after about 2 hours, I didnt get any numbness in the 75 till about 5 hours in. Cracking cars!

Changed the front brakes on Panzer. Now has drilled and grooved discs and Mintex pads.

Bagged myself a Deep Sea Green rear seat for my Arden Green V-reg.
I decided to call time on my BRG tourer, as it is just too far gone. Then my good friend bought an Arden green 75 with Deep Sea Green interior & I thought “That’s a bit of alright” so decided to use the green interior from the tourer & put it in the saloon…….obviously I would need a rear seat. An old thread came up on my radar about a car in a local breakers with green seats. Trouble is, it was an old thread & I thought it was probably long gone. I decided I had nothing to lose, so made contact anyway. Lo & behold it was still there, so after some help from Patrolman Pete I had a ride over to Sunderland this morning & got the seat, the little plastic uprights beside the seat & also the handbrake gaiter. I had thought about buying the lot, but the front seats weren’t all that good & the 3 remaining door cards were pretty rough. I got my haul home & spent the afternoon with the saddle soap, scrubbing the “new”seat. It’s cleaned up nicely & has been fed with leather care balm. I just need the car back from the painters & I can start swapping it all over |

Oh also I started shining up my set of Y spoke alloys, with a view to sticking them on the V-reg as well
They came from a car that a local scrap collector had dragged in. I spotted them in the back of his Transit tipper, he was about to weigh them in, so I grabbed them. They’ve been lying around my workshop ever since. So I bought a new set of centre caps & attacked them with the rubbing compound |

Treated the 1.8 to fresh oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and camcover gasket. Also fitted 2 new front drop links and which fixed an annoying clunking noise. Pollen filter to be done tomorrow.

Regular checks.
Took both the tourer &the FL2 on their 15 mile run to get them both up to temperature, then did the usual weekly fluid checks, light checks, tyres, both ok only needed some screen wash.

Didn't know you migrated to an FL2 how you finding it, they are great cars in my opinion, a bit like the R40 used to be an hidden secret i am thinking of getting a more basic one a regular run around, which would be an Auto.

Checked all the levels in both zeds and topped up the screenwash, got mine up on the jack and had a check of the drop links as theres a bit of a knock from the front again, it appeared ok but a better check when its a bit warmer is on the cards, then gave both cars a well deserved wash.
Then fired the v8 up and let run for a mo, roll on the warmer weather, I cant wait to go out for a drive in her. |
