Help needed with boot not opening
Anybody got a wiring diagram for the saloon boot lock? I have RAVE but can't find it on there.
My boot can now only be opened by the key in the lock. The remote switch on the drivers door pillar doesn't work, nor the extra one I added ages ago on the boot chrome plinth. I suspect it is something I have done whilst playing with a reversing camera on the plinth - possibly pulled a wire off or wrongly connected wires. |

More likely to be a failed boot catch motor, I had the same once and had to swap out the motor.

Had another ferret around this afternoon - now fixed it! It was as I thought, my fault, I had left off an earth connection behind the boot lock motor. As built, there is a 4 wire connection fed into the boot lid on the rhs. This loom feeds the number plate lights (2 wires including an earth), and the lock motor (3 or 4 wires including an earth which splits into 2).
Some time ago I fitted another switch in the chromed number plate plinth to open the bootlid, basically in parallel with the A-post switch (2 wires including an earth). Then I renewed an aftermarket reverse camera (4 wires including an earth). It all was working until fairly recently. I decided to swop the number plate plate bulbs for leds, repair the plastic base of the lamp unit, and tidy up the mess of wiring around there. Restricted access, and some thin cables meant it really was a mess, and I ended up with an earth link between all the black wires which was missed off. Sorted now though. As part of the investigation this afternoon, I removed the lock unit, lifted the lid (I couldn't get it right off though), and pulled the motor out. This tested ok on the bench. I clicked it back in position, it worked ok with wires direct to the 4-way plug, So back it went into the car, and I just traced the wiring to sort it. |
