I wear a white tee shirt somedays and I wear a black tee shirt on other days. Some days I don't wear a tee shirt at all. I hope that doesn't offend anybody, because, with me, what you see is what you get. I do my best to get on with life and with others, without bothering anybody in the process.

I'm not bothered by anyone else's views or beliefs as long as they don't start trying to convert me.

Got an interesting problem coming up! Finally found a suitable replacement for the leaking tap on the BIG rain water barrel next to the shed. Took a while to find a replacement as I didn't fancy the durability of those cheap plastic taps in B&Q etc. I dismantled the leaky tap a while ago and found there's no kind of washer, its watertight purely by the interference fit between the body of the tap and the centre, God knows how old it is and I think wear has defeated it.

Swapping the taps will be interesting, the barrel is huge, about 4' deep and about 3' at its widest point with the tap, obviously, at the bottom, how I'm going to reach it inside has got me wondering.

I've just had the exact same job to do! I ended up laying it on the lawn, with me half in and half out with a pair of stilsons on the inner nut, whilst SWMBO twisted the tap itself, with an open ended spanner. Of course, we ended up with the tap tightening up completely upside down and had to adjust it again! I made a couple of washers from an old inner tube to seal against the inside and outside of the plastic drum. We must have looked a comical pair!!! Good luck!

The reason its taken a while to find one I wanted is the seal. The area where the tap is has a slight curve but the tap I got has a separate plastic threaded part that attaches the tap to the barrel with a couple of substantial rubber washers on it, the (metal) tap itself screws into the plastic part.
