if rear demister bothers you being on its not that hard to push the button to switch it of its like only a few inches away from the gear stick!!!!! and i wouldnt have thought it used anymore fuel than not being on

From what Jeremy Clarkson was saying during a Top Gear economy race the rear window de-mister is one of the biggest draws on the battery and as such affects mpg in quite a big way, something like 5% if I remember rightly

Having to open the door, turn the ignition on, set the ignition on full retard, go to the front of the car, get the starting handle out, crank the car till it started, put the handle back and get back in the car, often in the cold and rain.. Now that was a pain..
