Decided to give the Connie a wash while the sun was out. Probably rain tomorrow now.

Default What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today?

Finally had a nice day so I set to the ZTT with all my kit
Cheated to start, ran it round the corner for a £3 auto car wash.
Home, cuppa, down the shed and assembled my cleaning kit.
Clayed the whole car with Dodo juice and a generic clay mitt, didn’t take long at all.
Power mopped with G3
Hand mopped then power with G10
Hand polish with Meguiars Ultimate
Hand Waxed with Meguiars Gold
All wiped off with Costco yellow microfibre cloths.
Refitted 18” 11 spokes after winter on 16” forks+M&S tyres.
ArmorAll from Costco to shine up the new Good Year tyres.
Didn’t get time to polish the glass!
Silverline 6” mop is very good but NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- uncomfortable to use. I’ve done three camper vans with solid faded paint to great effect but I wish I had something lighter and with less kickback. But using the correct chemicals and machining from the start means less long term maintenance. In fact I never had to polish my campers again, just did a quality wash, I had Meguiars at the time but lately Costco and Halfords have equally good stuff on offer.
Didn’t even get time for a photo but after 5 months my ZTT still looks the mutts and reminds me I bought the right car...
Pics tomorrow or ASAP!
Incidentally we’re moving house and the car is proving great as a tip runner, suitably protected with a vinyl liner.

Finally fitted my widescreen head unit. Bit of a tight squeeze to get in, trimmed the corners a bit but found that there was enough flexibility in the centre console to be able to gently lever it over the corners and then push it in.

Have still to source the widescreen video module but looks the part at the moment.

Also washed it yesterday to get rid of all the salt off of it.

Changed a front lower arm and bush, did a set of front to rear brake pipes and changed a pair of front struts.

(The front struts were on a Clio - Forgive me Father.. for I have sinned)

Decided to wax the KV6 this afternoon. I tried Speed Wax on the first panel, the offside front door. And then my favourite, Autoglym Resin Polish on the rear door. Guess what I used on the rest of the car? Certainly not the speed wax. Although the speed wax did its job, the resin polish did a much better job. Tomorrow I have a ceramic finish coat spray to apply. This I know is good because I have used it before, and it’s good and lasts a long time. Hope the weather holds up.

Copy that
In the morning light my car looked worse than yesterday. I’d been using Meguiars over the last few years on my campers, to great effect, but found it was not so good on clearcoat/pearlescent.
Went to Halfords and picked up 1L of AutoGlym super resin which I first started using 30+ years ago.
And guess what again? It’s still the best for metallic paint. Really deep shine and eliminated the swirl marks. £13.99 for a litre so great value.

So long as it’s a 172/182 or a Williams I’m sure you’ll be let off that!

It must be that time of year! Autoglym for me too! Love it as it is easy to use and lasts well. You get what you pay for with polish!

Couple of helicoils fitted to manifold and new O rings on injectors
Did buy an injector spacer (prob not correct name!) but won't fit cos of the fuel pipe, can't see as it does anything really

Don't know if it makes any difference but added jubilees to the breather hoses etc

I too like Autoglym, but don't find it lasts that well, and I'm out in the country (supposedly less pollution!).
