nothing on message centre , was wondering if it could be ignition switch itself but think i will try the fuse removal first ,

Just as an aside Every time I switched the engine off I had a Bleep could not understand what it was until It dawned on me that I had my phone on charge via the cigar lighter socket and it was the phone bleeping.when switching off

Not something like that is it

May be a red herring but I am sure I read on a LR forum years ago that a single beep when locking but the doors lock OK indicates a battery problem. As the Freelander1 shares a lot with our cars this may be worth mentioning.

If a door/boot/bonnet is open then you get the same beep but the doors will not lock.

I cannot remember if it was the Remote battery or the car battery tho?

Either as above, or, you are removing the key to quick as you turn the ignition off.

My 75 also does this occasionally.

I am sure I do not press any buttons so have been unable to pinpoint the problem either.

The only good thing is that it has not caused any problems during my 2 years of ownership so I have just accepted it as one of the cars more quirky features.
