Hi all, so I went out to have a look and basically it's so tight in there under the bonnet that I can hardly see the compressor !!!
I can't see any wires going to it either, do I have to do it from under the car ?

What I did see though is this, a known problem apparently.

what can I do ? can I solder it ???

I believe that pipe to be alloy.--It can be soldered if you have the right equipment.

Yes it is a known problem and if it was me I'd either replace the pipe or fit a suitable compression fitting.

I don't have a diesel but from the photographs in the manual the compressor appears to be at the very lower front of the engine bay. So yes, best approached from underneath the car.

I've ordered a new pipe from the UK, let's hope it gets here before the summer. I'll change it and when the front end is in bits I'll test everything then.

Hello Pete,

When you have the system discharged to fit the replacement pipe, it's the ideal opportunity to find out how much refrigerant you have. That should be considered along with the tests already described so that you get the full picture.

Hi Pete.
As the alloy A/C pipe been perforated from the rubbing of the hose pipe, sometime you can see it as other times you may have pin holes which are harder to see, either way get the hose tied back.

Also check the lower part of the hose as it can get rubbed through by the compressor pulley.

It might be Pete but let's not make assumptions eh. If the car is sending no voltage to the compressor clutch then that all adds to the evidence.

Whilst your taking photographs, can you get your multimeter onto that red wire?
